changes to my title sequence/ storyboard

Here you can see that I have made some improvements, to my storyboard. I have added footage, were a student is getting ready for their first day in secondary school. This student will have nothing to do with the actually storyline of the movie, all these footages will be incorporated in to the title sequence, to make the sequence longer.

The progression so far with title sequence

Above you can see some screen shots, of my title sequence in final cut pro. I have imported all my photos, and assembled them in order; as you can see, I have also imported my title sequence music. The next thing I will be doing is, shortening down my images, to make them a bit more faster; and speeding up the music, but not so much, as I want it to be in order with the visualise.

Why I chose to do stop motion Title sequence, then filming

The reason why I chose to do stop motion, then filming is because; when planning for my title sequence idea and my movie idea, I wanted to reflect the genre of the movie in the title sequence. I wanted to produce a animated title sequence, and the only way to execute this idea meant I would have to produce my title sequence, by using the method stop motion. Using stop motion meant, I could make my title sequence look more original, and more authentic.

Why I chose to use the Ipad 3, to take my photos

The reason why I chose to use the IPad 3 to take my photos, for my title sequence is because by using a HD camera (on the IPad) it will produce a better quality photo. Each small detail on the camera would be captured; so when moving on to the editing, of my photos, it will just enhance the details, making it more dramatic. When producing my photos, for my title sequence, I wanted to produce the best quality photos possible; which will hopefully produce a more enjoyable experience, my the audience.

The progression of the titles in my title sequence

This is a post which focuses solely on my titles, and the progress. When deciding on my title sequence idea; I had a vision on, how I wanted to present my titles on my title sequence. The feedback I got from the titles survey, I carried out, help alot. The only problem that challenged me was how I would make the titles look more original; as the original font had a crayon effect, I decided to expand on that, and based my idea around that. So I decided to actually right out the titles one by one, with a red crayon; I chose the red colour solely because it would stand out, after I edited all the photos. Moving on by editing the photos, I found that using an actual crayon to write out the titles, it created a more of an effect and made the titles stand out. I found that by increasing the sharpness and contrast, gave the titles more depth.

Why I chose to use Snapseed, to edit my photos

http://www.snapseed.com/

This is the software/app, which I used on the IPad, to edit my stop motion photos. The reason why I choose to use this programme is because; this programme is purely designed to edit photos, which means that it will have all the necessary tools needed to edit a still shot. Whereas Photoshop is more general, in its editing tools,; as this targets all aerie’s for editing.

Detail sketches of my title sequence (stop motion) pictures, after being edited

Here you can see my stop motion pictures, after they have been edited. As you can see I have increased the contrast, the brightness of the sketches; but not too much as it will wash out the fine details. I have also increased the sharpness of the photos, as this will capture the fine details of the pencil, and the shading.

Detail sketches of my title sequence (stop motion) pictures, before being edited

Please ignore the titles; I have done a separate post on them.

Here are my detailed sketches of my stop motion pictures; as you can see that I have drawn these photos myself, and shaded them with an ordinary pencil. The reason why I didn’t use a HP sketching pencil, to sketch these photos; is because, once I edit each photo, one by one, the shaded part, in the illustrations, would become too dramatic, and eventually would drown the whole sketch.
