Dairy of a wimpy kid- title sequence analysis

·         The first thing you see in this title sequence is that, the 20th century fox footage turns into a animated drawing; one lined paper.
·         The camera than zooms out to reveal a book/ dairy, which opens up to reveal more lined paper. At this point you see the word September, being written in, on the lined paper.
·         The sound of the pencil against the paper is also in time with the visual.
·         The lined paper then turns to reveal, live footage of the two main characters, involved with the storyline/movie.
·         There are alot of continuity shots.
·         The camera starts following the main character downs stairs.
·         At this point there are alot of fast cuts, which may connote the rush of getting dressed for, the first day in school.
·         The camera then cuts to the main characters big brother and zooms into his face.
·         You then see the face being replaced into an animated face.
·          The camera then zooms out to reveal more of the drawing.
·         This then again turns into an animated title sequence.
·         The pages start turning to reveal more pencil drawings of the main family.
·         The whole title sequence seems to be based on a book/ dairy full of childish drawings. This may connote to the audience that, a book/dairy plays a big part in this movie.
·         It also sets an enigma for the audience, as they may start questioning what is the story behind this book/dairy? Who does it belong to?
·         The camera then flows around the pages to reveal more information. The writing on the pages suggests that, this is not a book but a diary.
·         The pages start turning really fast to reveal more animated drawing, when suddenly the book shuts to reveal the title of the movie; Dairy of a wimpy kid.
·         The camera then zooms out to reveal the owner of the diary, Gregory.
·         The mise on scene is all animated, which connotes that this is a children’s movie; as it looks like a child has drawn the images.
·         The dialogue that is spoken tells the viewers more about the movie and what it is based on.
·         It seems that the story that is going to be told, in this movie, has been adapted from Gregory’s dairy/journal.
·          The camera cuts from live footage to animated footage to present Gregory’s dream.
·         This makes me think that Gregory’s dream is unrealistic as it has been animated; to present the press (which is animated) trying to get few answers out of the animated Gregory.
·          The camera then presents Gregory’s best friend, with live and animated footage.
·         The camera then zooms out of the animated world, which lie in the diary, to reveal Gregory’s room.
